Dublin Business School (DBS) began as the Accountancy and Business College and was founded in 1975. At the time, the college only offered evening lessons to individuals preparing for tests administered by professional accounting groups. It is now one of Ireland's largest independent colleges. Dublin Business School was acquired by Graham Holdings Company's subsidiary Kaplan, Inc. in 2003. Kaplan was impressed by the school's development at the time.

The NCEA Act designated DBS as a Designated Institution in 1992. It changed its name to Henley Associate College in 1996. Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) has accredited its Master's programs, Postgraduate Higher Diploma, and DBS Degree. It strongly emphasizes educating its students according to industry standards and professional organizations to help them advance in their careers. In addition to finding a volunteer project to work on, students can spend a year studying abroad and gain work experience while still in college.
