Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) was founded in 1970 as a public institution. Prof. William Donnelly is the president of WIT, while Richard Langford is the chairman. It is a government-funded institute in Waterford, Ireland. The institute's six sites include the Cork Road Campus (main campus), College Street Campus, Carriganore Campus, Applied Technology Building, and The Granary Campus. The institute provides Business, Engineering, Education, Health Sciences, Humanities, and Sciences courses. It has worked with Teagasc to provide instructional programs. It offers a dual degree with Munich University of Applied Sciences as well as a joint B.Sc. degree with NUIST (Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology). A double degree in Business is also provided in collaboration with the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Bretagne Brest.

WIT was the first college to receive the Institute of Technology medal in 1998 among all Regional Technical Institutes in Ireland. Waterford Institute of Technology also has the most students of any technological institute outside of Dublin. It provides diploma, certificate, degree, and doctoral programs to students of diverse backgrounds. 

In 2008, Webometrics ranked WIT as Ireland's seventh-best higher education organization. This rating was based on a total of 32 higher education institutions in the country.

Postgraduate Fee

The Waterford Institute of Technology takes a proactive stance in the creation of degrees and courses tailored to particular industries. There are multiple pricing systems for domestic and international students for the Master's degree course at WIT.

International students at Waterford Institute of Technology pay a full-time postgraduate tuition fee of €6,500 per year. You can select from one year, two years, three years, or four years of study. The tuition charge at WIT is still €4,500 per year for graduate programs for Irish and EU-based students.

Undergraduate Fee

Different courses at WIT have different tuition costs for bachelor's degrees. This fee is determined after careful assessment of the curriculum requirements and the student's needs to attain their objectives. Furthermore, if you pass the Free Charge Initiative scheme, you will be exempt from the undergraduate tuition charge at Waterford Institute of Technology. Your tuition will be waived due to this effort, and you will be able to study at the Waterford Institute of Technology with ease.

However, there is a student contribution levy in addition to the tuition rate for Undergraduate programs at WIT. The fee remains at €3,000 per student. However, if you are eligible for the SUSI Grant, you may be able to waive this charge. Waterford Institute of Technology charges a standard bachelor's degree cost of €10,250.

Waterford Institute of Technology Courses

The major departments in Waterford Institute of Technology are:

Business – 13 bachelor's degree courses and 15 postgraduate degrees are available. There are also 16 part-time degrees available.

Engineering – There are 18 UG degrees, 10 PG degrees, 13 part-time courses, and 2 add-on courses available.

Lifelong Learning and Education – One undergraduate educational course and three postgraduate degrees are provided.

Health Sciences – There are 15 UG programs, 5 PG courses, 10 part-time courses, and 2 add-on courses.

Humanities - 18 UG courses, 6 PG courses, 6 part-time courses, and 3 add-on courses are available.

Science – The department offers 27 UG programs, 14 PG degrees, and 26 part-time courses.

The undergraduate program lasts three to four years, whereas the master's program lasts two years. Students who have completed their PG can work at WIT. WIT has €200 million in research funds. It has worked with over 350 business and academic partners. It has three technology gateways: TSSG, PMBRC, and SEAM.

    One of Ireland's largest institutes for technological education, the Waterford Institute of Technology, is home to more than 10,000 students from more than 70 different nations. At the moment, WIT provides 14 postgraduate programs and almost 70 undergraduate courses throughout its five academic schools. The top courses offered at Waterford Institute of Technology include mechanical engineering, computer science, law, business, and criminal justice.

    The university only accepts applications for the fall semester. Applications for undergraduate programs can be sent directly to the university's foreign office. However, a 50 EUR application fee is required for PG program admissions, which PAC handles internally.     Postgraduate Admissions

    WIT's 5 academic schools provide a broad selection of postgraduate teaching and research programs. While most taught courses start in September, research programs run all year. While applications for taught programs and unfunded PG research programs can be made through PAC, those for funded research postgraduate programs must be sent directly to the Institute using an application form to pgadmissions@wit.ie. Waterford Institute of Technology Accommodation

    Waterford Institute of Technology provides a high-quality accommodation package and a pleasant and welcoming environment to live in while studying. Payments must be made in advance of arrival.

    However, there are some crucial procedures you will need to follow before arrival, so please read the information carefully. During the month before your visit, the university will send you extra information on what you will need before your arrival.

    Please be aware that your application email will be the only formal means of interaction from SETU Waterford Campus Accommodation with students. So, keep an eye on this account for any essential correspondence from the university. You can check into your accommodation starting on the day your license to reside takes effect, or you can do so the day you register for classes at SETU Waterford.

    Pre Arrival

    You must finish several chores before checking in in order to expedite the procedure, including:

    Full Payment in advance

    A €50 discount is applied to all accounts paid in full on or before the first day of the license period (the discount does not apply to Single Semester students). 

    Payments in Instalments

    • 55% on or before the first day of the license agreement
    • 25% on or before Friday, November 3rd 2023
    • 20% on or before Friday, 26th January 2024

    Semester Payments

    Students might choose to stay solely for Semester 1 or only for Semester 2. There are a limited number of spots available for students to stay for only semester 1 or only semester 2. Before completing an online application, students must contact accommodation.wd@setu.ie. Each semester's payments must be received in full.

    You must make cheques, postal orders, and bank drafts payable to WITDCS Accommodation.

    Please be aware that cash payments cannot be made for security reasons.

    Inventory Check List

    After you have checked in, you will be requested to examine and submit an inventory checklist to attest to the accuracy of the inventory supplied in your apartment's condition and content. This year, it will be accomplished online. We kindly ask you to do this because failure to do so could result in deductions from your security deposit for lost or broken property. The inventory record will be as per our record if you do not submit the checklist.

    1.Does Waterford Institute of Technology provide scholarships to international students? 

    WIT offers a variety of scholarships to non-EU fee-paying students. Scholarships for full-time programs are available for recent graduates, higher diploma holders, and taught PG applicants.

    2.Is the student fee at Waterford Institute of Technology refundable?

    An international student's tuition or deposit may be refunded if their application for a study visa is denied or if the Institute no longer offers the program they were interested in. 

    Additionally, the tuition price is refundable in cases of exemption for a 10% fee.

    3.Where can I see my application status?

    Candidates can track their applications by logging into their PAC account and going to the My Account section. 

    4.Where do I need to submit my supporting documents?

    Scanned copies of all documents should be provided when applying for the course or mailed to the PAC, Galway, where they will upload them on your behalf.
