Shannon College of Hotel Management is the country's only hotel management college, founded in 1951 by Dr. Brendan O'Regan (an Irish businessman). Shannon College, located at Shannon International Airport in County Clare, provides two Level 8 Business degrees, five postgraduate programs, and a variety of executive education and short programs.

Shannon College of Hotel Management Courses

Two Level 8 Business Degrees with a focus on International Hotel Management are available from Shannon College of Hotel Management. The Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Business Studies. These programs include a special combination of intensive business studies, in-depth language development, 21 months of paid overseas work placement, and hands-on practical learning. Students who are interested in becoming well-rounded, highly competent, experienced, and motivated individuals who have demonstrated success in a variety of professions throughout the years are supported and encouraged in this environment.

Shannon College of Hotel Management Admission Requirements

    General admission requirements: each course may have different prerequisites.

    Postgraduate Courses: A minimum of 60% in a bachelor's degree (65% is preferred) or a CGPA of 7.5 or above (on a 10-point scale). IELTS: 6.5, with each module scoring at least 6.0 (or comparable PTE or TOEFL score)

    Undergraduate Courses (after 12th grade): Most courses have an IBDP of 36 or above, with an average of 85% or higher. IELTS: 6.0, or the equivalent score on the TOEFL or PTE, with at least 5.5 in each module.

    MBA program: After graduation, a Bachelor's degree with three years of professional job experience (excluding temporary, part-time, or summer employment). 600 on the GMAT or above (SCH's average GMAT score is 640). IELTS is 7.0, with no module scoring lower than 6.5, or TOEFL iBT is 100 (minimum writing score of 24 and minimum reading, hearing, and speaking scores of 20). Every qualified candidate will have an interview.

Shannon College of Hotel Management Scholarships

A variety of scholarships are available from SCHM to Indian students. Scholarships cover the full cost of education up to 100%. 

Some of the scholarships for Indian students:

Ireland's Government's International Education Scholarship Program: The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships are available to students outside of the EU/EEA and offer 60 recipients a full year of study on a Bachelor, Master's, or PhD program together with an individual stipend of €10,000 and full fee remission. 

Erasmus Mundus Scheme: An international consortium of higher education institutions jointly offers the famous Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD), an integrated, international study program. The top student applicants who apply during the annual selection rounds are granted scholarships supported by the EU by EMJMDs. At least two of the program nations must host the study. A portion of the research may also be conducted in conjunction with a university from a partner nation. This indicates that it is available to Master's students and will run from 12 to 24 months.

Applicants for the master's degree are eligible for some of the scholarships listed above. All of the aforementioned scholarships are available to undergraduate applicants who plan to enroll at SCHM after completing their 12th grade.

Shannon College of Hotel Management Accommodation

    The first-year student accommodation is in Castle Gardens near Bunratty Village, approximately a ten to fifteen-minute drive from the school. Each of the three bedrooms in the student housing complex, which includes two ensuite bathrooms and one single room with an adjoining bathroom, is fully furnished with all the conveniences needed for a comfortable stay. You will be randomly assigned to shared accommodations at a discounted rate if a private single room is unavailable.

    Furthermore, Shannon Town and its environs provide an abundance of lodging choices, including homes, apartments, and flats.

    What does the interview process involve?

    An admission interview will be held for each applicant to Shannon College as a part of the application procedure. If possible, the interview will take place in person; if not, students who live abroad can participate via Zoom.
