In order to create Hibernia College, the first accredited third-level institution in Ireland to offer online courses, Dr. Rowland brought together colleagues from the corporate, education, and technology communities.

Hibernia College Admission Requirement
- According to Teaching Council regulations, applicants must fulfill the curricular subject requirements for at least one post-primary curricular subject in order to be eligible for entry into the PME. Additionally, they must hold a Level 8 degree with an ECTS weighting of at least 180 credits on the NFQ (or equivalent).
- Applicants must submit a Subject Declaration Form for the subject(s) they have chosen when requesting a spot on the PME. In this form, they must state that they:
- Possess a bachelor's degree with honors at NFQ Level 8 or above, with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits.
- Possess the necessary ECTS credits in the subject or subjects they want to be listed on the Register of Teachers.

PME in Primary Education Entry Requirements
The National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) requires applicants to have an undergraduate degree at Level 8 or above with an ECTS weighting of at least 180 credits.
To meet the minimum admission requirements, the degree's subject and grade are irrelevant.
Interview
You will receive an interview invitation following the review and processing of your online application.
To ascertain your language proficiency, the interview will consist of a 20-minute general component and an approximately 10-minute oral language component. The language component will cover conversational fluency, verb usage, vocabulary, grammar, and tenses. Hibernia College recommends taking a Gaeilge course that will sufficiently prepare you for an interview in addition to regular practice to enhance your Gaeilge language proficiency.
You should be conversing in Gaeilge for at least half an hour every day before your interview. It's also crucial to thoroughly prepare for the general portion of the interview, covering topics such as your reasons for wanting to become a teacher and your current understanding of teaching in Ireland.
PME in Post-Primary Education Entry Requirements
NFQ Level 8 Degree
A minimum of 180 credits of ECTS weighting and an undergraduate degree at Level 8 or above on the NFQ are requirements for admission.

Teaching Council Curricular Subject Requirements
Candidates must have completed an honors bachelor's degree at NFQ Level 8 in a relevant field with at least a Pass or equivalent.
In order to apply, candidates must submit their official transcript, which must be at least Level 8 and reflect their overall performance and total ECTS credits awarded.
Language Proficiency in English
An applicant must provide proof of English proficiency if English is not their first language or primary mode of expression. A B2+ or above proficiency level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required.
