The Republic of Ireland's Cavan Institute, formerly known as Cavan College of Further Studies, is a third-level institution situated in the town of Cavan. The primary campuses of the college are situated in various parts of the town, as well as the former Army Barracks on Dublin Road, which County Cavan VEC bought and reopened in 2023.

Since 2006, the Institute has been registered as a supplier of courses for the Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC). There will be Gold, Silver, and Bronze level scholarships given out. The following standards will be used:

Gold Award: Students competing at a high level in their chosen sport, such as inter-county, interprovincial, international, or FAI League of Ireland, are the target audience for the Gold level scholarships.

Silver Award: While a student at Cavan Institute, the Silver level scholarships are intended to provide pupils with the means to advance to the pinnacle of their chosen sport, such as club or local football teams or underage intercounty competitions.

Bronze Award: The goal of the Bronze level scholarships is to provide students with the means to advance to a competitive level in the sport of their choice while enrolled at Cavan Institute, such as club or local football teams or underage intercounty competitions.

    5.What is the age requirement to apply for a PLC course?

    By the time the course begins, participants must be at least 16 years old. Additionally, they have to have finished one of the following programs: QQI Level 4 major award or its equivalent; Leaving Certificate; Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP); Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA); or Leaving Certificate.

    Those over 23 who meet the requirements but lack one of the aforementioned credentials and can show they are capable of studying at Level 5 or Level 6 are eligible to apply.

    6.How can I pay the fees to secure my spot?

    Using the college website, you can pay your fee to reserve your spot. Using your Cavan Institute ID and password, you can view the details of your application on the Cavan Institute website.

    The BIC and IBAN numbers for the college’s bank account, which are listed on your conditional offer letter, can also be used to pay fees online.
